On Thursday, October 10, Professor of History Chris Gehrz explored the importance of off-campus study for a Pietist college and how it facilitates whole-person education and how its autonomy makes it an ideal engine of institutional renewal. Gehrz drew from his off-campus study abroad experiences and a 1976 proposal from Bethel president Carl Lundquist after his sabbatical involving visits to spiritual retreat centers across the United States and Europe.
This is the second of a series of presentations on the topic of the Pietist Approach to Higher Education.
